Webb10 jan. 2024 · Wow maybe I'm looking at different pictures, but those frets are in serious need of recrowning. If the rest of the frets looks similar a good levelling might be needed too. It's a great thing to be able to do yourself, but proper tools and good procedure are mandatory. I like the stew mac files, and their fingerboard protectors are handy too.

WebbIf your frets are sufficiently worn you're also going to have a few high spots, beyond 2-3 slightly high frets you're really going to want to just level it off with a long straight edge. I would advise if people want to do this they invest in a couple of basic tools like a crowning file, fret end file, notched straight edge and a sanding straight edge or levelling file. Webb16 mars 2015 · If the refretting process pushed the neck into back bow the leveling and recrowning process is your opportunity to make this right and end up with a level fret plane. Frets could be removed too and compression fretting done as needed but simply leveling and recrowning at the expense of some new fret height would be easier.
